Host country. Ghana is a pioneering nation in welcoming Afro-descendants, notably through the “Year of Return” initiative. The country is the natural setting for this ceremony.
Financial governance. An independent finance committee monitors the budget. Commitments with partners are contractual, payments are staggered, and a contingency fund covers the unexpected.
Heads of state and government, traditional authorities, Afro-descendant representatives from the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America, entrepreneurs, investors, artists and community leaders.
National and international press relations, television, radio, print and digital coverage, online and social media distribution, and a documentary production that extends the impact of the event well beyond the three days.
The Accra Final Declaration commits participants to prepare the ceremonies of 2030 and 2031 in Tanzania, Angola, Benin and Ghana. A partnership formed in Accra therefore fits into a four-year cycle.
